Call for Submissions
From the Sketches
Help us celebrate where the work comes from and the process to take it where it will go in our upcoming group exhibition, From the Sketches.
What we are looking for: artists and creatives, of all ages and skillsets across all mediums, who are willing to submit a page from their sketchbook (or whatever napkin, cereal box or 2x4 they worked their idea out on) showing idea development or practice exercises honing technique.

The Lacombe Performing Arts Centre welcomes artist, Joyce Gauthier, to our gallery wall!
In her first solo exhibition, Red Deer artist, Joyce Gauthier finds her artistic voice and freedom in her devotion and love of oil painting.
Since retiring in 2022, Gauthier has seized the opportunity to dedicate more time to her love of oil painting. Considering herself a student, Gauthier is always learning, making mistakes, scrapping canvases and welcoming happy accidents in her ongoing creative pursuit of finding and developing her artistic voice.
With a background in Architectural Design, she looks beyond buildings to find inspiration in the structure of everyday objects. From gas pumps to apples to simple glass jars, Joyce translates what she sees into eye-catching paintings gifting viewers a chance to appreciate the often overlooked. Whether she’s painting landscapes or objects, Gauthier captures and injects light, creating atmospheric and rich paintings that one cannot help but stop to explore.
With her next goal mapped out, Gauthier has set her eyes on the world of plein air painting with plans to pack up her paints and easel to explore and paint the character and beauty she finds within the towns of Central Alberta.
This exhibit will be on display at the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre starting April 8 and will run until May 9. Please join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, April 17, 7-9PM.
