Music in the Park History

Music in the Park

Music in the Park was the brainchild of local Lann Lieurance. His vision was to provide weekly community concerts throughout the summer which would feature local, regional and provincial musicians. As a founding member of the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre Foundation, his idea was embraced by LPAC and the first concert was held July 2, 2014. Lann called in every favour and musicians travelled from all over Alberta for that first season in Lacombe. The next year the schedule was expanded from July and August to include June.

Since that first performance, LPAC has been proud to present this wonderful event for the community, featuring over 100 performances and entertaining up to 400 people on a weekly basis.

All the musicians are paid from a pool of audience donations and sponsorships from local supporters and businesses. Your generosity helps LPAC to continue this important community program.

Echo Stage

The early performances of Music in the Park featured the musicians on the grass in front of the small gazebo on the west side of “Lest We Forget” Park. As the popularity of the event grew and the crowds increased, the LPAC Foundation began to work toward the construction of a proper stage. In 2016, with funds they had raised and the assistance of a grant from Echo Lacombe, LPAC designed and oversaw the construction of the beautiful post and beam structure that exists today. The first concert on the stage was held on June 7, 2017. After the inaugural concert the stage was gifted to the City of Lacombe, and it continues to host numerous wonderful community events and programs.
